Our Students
Because every child is precious, at Acacia College we focus diligently on the safety and well-being of our students while they are in our care.
We care about all aspects of our students’ development – not just intellectual and physical development, but also social, emotional and spiritual.
Our students are also expected to care for each other. At Acacia College we place great emphasis on developing qualities such as patience, kindness and compassion.
We want our students to develop a ‘social conscience’ which shows itself in concern and support for those in need. As they become more articulate, we also encourage them to express positive views on issues such as reconciliation and social justice. We take seriously the task of teaching our students to care for the environment. They also learn how to practise sustainable living not just in terms of the physical environment, but also on a more personal level in their relationships – at home, at school and in the wider community – and in their faith. They discover how it is possible to pursue their goals without compromising relationships or the environment.
We believe that all our students have the potential to be leaders in one area of life or another. Our role is to help them discover their true talents and abilities, and encourage them always to strive for their personal best.
By acknowledging their achievements in all areas of endeavour, we seek to instil confidence and a healthy self-esteem in our students, preparing them to meet life’s challenges with resourcefulness and resilience.
With confidence comes self-belief. We encourage our students to aim high and believe firmly in their ability to achieve whatever goals they set for themselves.
We want all our students to be proud of themselves, and also to have positive feelings towards their families, their school, their communities and their country. |
